My Home, My Future

Are you an Aboriginal person who dreams of buying your own home, but feel you are not quite ready yet? Have you ever wanted to move out of your family home, or out of public housing system and get into your own private rental? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then our Transitional Housing Program in Broome and Derby can assist you to move into one of the 60 quality houses connected to the program and then provide you with the right support to achieve those goals.

This is a very special program that was designed by the Department of Communities to support the aspirations of people who are currently employed, undertaking an apprenticeship, or are completing a traineeship that will lead to employment. The focus of the program is to support people to build the financial skills, knowledge, confidence and strength to buy their own home, or to take charge of their own future in a private rental.

In our partnership with Community Housing Limited, who provide the Tenancy Services, Centacare Kimberley has a team of dedicated support workers who can assist you to develop a plan that will successfully lead to home ownership. From May 2016 to May 2020 this program has supported 17 families to buy their own home and has worked with 19 families to successfully transition into the private rental market. This program is all about your dreams, your aspirations and your goals, our role is to help you achieve them.
